SUMMER OF 2026 + NOVEL

It appears that it is SUMMER again.

The sun shines with immense force in the sky, seprating the roadside from the walkway. Of course, the sky isn't as special as the sun, merely a calm shade of blue.

But, looking back, doesn't that CLOUD in the sky look familar?

It seems like the newsletter has partially changed for the better.

...

So, all newsletters will be in this format now.

IS SUMMER BAD?

Maybe. It sucks here.

But is it cool? Let's look at the Wikipedia page for "Summer".

Summer or summertime is the hottest and brightest of the four temperate seasons, occurring after spring and before autumn. At or centered on the summer solstice, daylight hours are the longest and darkness hours are the shortest, with day length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice.

The earliest sunrises and latest sunsets also occur near the date of the solstice. The date of the beginning of summer varies according to definition, climate, tradition, and culture. When it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice versa.

That makes a lot of sense, no?

...

Yeah, nah.

HEY LOOK, JUST AN ORDINARY MAGICAL QUEST IS THAT WAY

It has nothing to do with summer, but it is time to talk about my developing novel.

I would say the premise, but I think its better if I refer to the POV protag, KAYUKI, as Austrailan Susie.

That narrows it down a lot, but she does familarities with Susie's personality.

However, their character voices are widely different, so I can probably get away with it. Carn, mate, see this? No pronouns! Conjunctions ain't safe too.

PROGRESS UPDATE

Chapter 2's first drafting is done, and I'm working on the outline for the fourth chapter.

This month will probably end with me drafting the climax for Chapter 3, so please wait.

Since I'm holding off Chapter 1, here is a sample of the first draft of Chapter 2:

Kayuki retreats to the wooden table, laying a map. Alright, put the mind off the order.

“So, Noctyren, yeah?” she says, tapping on Cave Lunaldaea’s rusted depiction. “Snatch it; didn’t go here again for nobody.”

“But we’ll, uh…” Her eyes focused on the window. “I think, like, this isn’t a good idea.”

“Nah, look at this Saturday’s paper.” Sliding The Fantasy Time’s paper to Haruki, she snags the map into her bag. “Ya can shoot, it’s fine—”

“Hey—the barista has your order.” She sighs, narrowing her eyes. Small droplets condense on the window.

“Oh, been hoping to that.” Kayuki drags her feet, sprinting to the counter.

She grabs their orders and drifts Haruki’s boiling tea to her, sloshing her coffee. “Kay, if it’s not ideal, go to the cave and smash it up. It’ll turn ideal in no time,” she adds, holding her cup. Rain streaks the window, similar to a thousand tiny drums.

Haruki nudges her cup. “Uhm, no smashing? It’ll end like your map.”

She leans her chair, her arms crossing. “Oh, no drama.” Smoky undertones bruise her mouth as she strikes her half-finished coffee to the side. “Got it ready, she’ll be apples. It’s been a long time, though. North?”

“Didn’t we go here, like, an hour ago?” she says, no, asks.

“Eeyup.” She rises, swallowing her remaining coffee. “This coffee’s bitter.”

Haruki responds with a simple nod, downing her ceramic cup. “So, I mean, if that’s okay with you, like all the things you hung for?”

DELTARUNE CHAPTER 5

DELTARUNE is around the corner, and I was right! It is the field of pink and gold, blooming in the dawning sun.

I wonder...

CONCLUSION

Summer sucks...

...but we have to wait.

Happy Pride Month.
